
The start of work will be marked by a visit from Defence Minister Dr Andrew Murrison, who will take part in a turf turning ceremony later. The work is the first stage of a £230m transformation of the airbase due to be completed by autumn 2015. Living accommodation at Defence College of Technical Training The development includes workshops, classrooms and labs, sports and welfare facilities and accommodation Once completed, the new college will bring together technical training for the RAF, Army and the Navy. There will be new accommodation blocks and teaching facilities, along with a large outdoor training area and a new base for the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Lyneham’s history of repatriation will also be honoured with a publicly accessible public garden of remembrance.
